If you ask me, the best part about changing seasons is the opportunity to change up my wardrobe. As much as I love summer, come August I can’t help but get excited about all things fall. The temperatures are finally cooling, the leaves are starting to turn yellow, grocery stores are filled with fall produce, and my favorite jackets and jeans are back in my closet. Denim shorts are great, but every year I look to add some new fall wardrobe staples to my wardrobe without breaking the bank.

There is something exciting about fall fashion that excites me. It’s a season of creativity, layering, and comfort. From the perfect chunky knits to cozy boots, I’m sharing every seasonal piece I’m eyeing this year. So grab your pumpkin spice latte and get ready to fill your cart with fall wardrobe essentials—all for under $200.
Agolde Cherie high-rise straight-leg jeans
The most important thing your fall wardrobe needs is a good pair of straight-leg jeans. While I still love baggy jeans, I tend to opt for more fitted jeans in the fall to balance out chunky sweaters and jackets. I love Agolde’s Cherie jeans because they’re the perfect straight fit that can still be paired with booties and sneakers.
Madewell suede Essentials casual half-moon bag
Suede season is officially here, and this suede hobo bag from Madewell is an affordable option for fall. I love the look of suede, but I’m always a little hesitant to spend a fortune on it due to the fragility of the material. I appreciate that the quality of this bag is still very high, but it’s also durable enough to carry around. Big enough to hold everything you might need for fall (including extra layers), this bag is a must-have.
J.Crew Spazzolato leather Winona Penny loafers
While platform loafers were all the rage last fall, I predict that fall 2024 will see a trend for sleeker, slimmer looks. One of the shoes and shorts. This pair from J.Crew is my go-to for fall wardrobe essentials.
Dissh Elle dark chocolate blazer
If you know me, you know that an oversized blazer is my go-to attire any time of year, but especially in the fall. I wear an oversized blazer with jeans and loafers at work, and shorts and knee-high boots when I go out, always feeling the cutest. Chocolate brown is my favorite fall shade and I can’t wait to get my hands on this blazer from Dissh.
Everlane barn jacket
Barn jackets are one of the hottest trends for fall 2024, and this one from Everlane is everything. Similar to the cult-famous Dôen jacket, which sold out almost instantly, this lightweight khaki jacket is the ultimate fashion-forward fall piece. Before it gets too cold, I pair my loafers with boxer shorts, a white tee, and socks.
Cézanne Lucas Jump
Stripes will be everywhere this fall, and this Sézane sweater is the perfect timeless yet stylish addition to your fall wardrobe. The collar, buckles and ribbed knit are all to die for, and I love how the white and navy stripes match everything without losing character. You can never have too many chunky knits in your wardrobe, which is a fun cycle to keep in mind.
Mango color two-button windbreaker
Although autumn temperatures are cooler, in many parts of the country it’s still not cold enough for mature coats. Enter: the trench coat. Thin enough to be layered and warm enough not to freeze, a windbreaker is truly the perfect jacket for fall. If the full-length look isn’t for you, there are many cropped versions that will suit your needs as well.
Reform Dranitop
This houndstooth vest is a fall version of my favorite linen vest. Even though it’s essentially just a vest, the structured vest looks so classy and sharp. If the weather is cold, I would pair this vest with dark jeans and an oversized blazer.
Steve Madden Delvie brown/red leather boots
Pointed toe boots were probably my favorite trend from last fall. Luckily for all of us, they aren’t going anywhere this year. I love the way the pointed toe lengthens the legs and makes it feel super feminine and sexy. These booties from Steve Madden are a dark merlot color (which I think will be one of the trending colors this season) and are the perfect height to wear under jeans.
Sézane Sofie dress
I firmly believe that denim is the fabric of fall and this denim dress is an absolute must-have for your fall wardrobe. Pair this dress with sneakers, loafers, boots or heels for a versatile look. I’m excited to get creative with belts this fall and I think this dress would look great belted at the waist and paired with a pair of knee-high boots.
Petite Moments disc studded phoenix belt
Like I said, I’m excited to get creative with my belt looks this fall, and this Khaite-like belt is at the top of my list. It can be worn simply with jeans, worn at the waist of a dress, or even worn with a blazer, and adding a belt can change the look. I love the dark brown and gold combo, but it also comes in black and silver if it suits your style and vibe better.
Levi’s retro overalls
White denim overalls are one of my summer wardrobe staples, so naturally, these vintage-inspired Levi’s had to become a fall wardrobe favorite as well. Layer these dungarees over a perfect white tee and throw a cardigan over the shoulders for an effortless yet stylish fall look.
Banana Republic 90s denim trucker jacket
One of the fall wardrobe essentials is the denim jacket, one of the most basic yet difficult pieces to pull off. I’m sure almost all of us have one in our closet, but only a few of us are truly obsessed with the one we own. I love denim jackets with more interesting shapes than classics, and this trucker jacket from Banana Republic is just that—boxy, oversized, and perfect for fall layering.
Daily Drills ribbed baby T-shirt
The Ringer T-shirt is the perfect layering staple for your fall wardrobe, and the colorful collar adds a pop of color when paired with sweaters and jackets. The Daily Drills ribbed baby tee has always been a favorite of mine and this colorful piece is the perfect addition to my wardrobe. I had the pleasure of thinking outside the box when designing this red bell tee. It would be fun to pair it with a Canadian tuxedo.
Abercrombie mid-rise tube jeans
While I usually prefer light wash jeans, dark to medium wash jeans are a must-have for fall. I love the columns of these Abercrombie jeans. It’ll look perfect paired with pointy-toe booties and a fitted sweater. If you were intimidated by Abercrombie’s graphic T-shirts as a teenager, I highly recommend setting aside your prejudices because the brand’s jeans truly are the best.
Jenni Kayne Everyday Slim Crew Neck Sweater
Speaking of fitted sweaters, if you’re looking for a cashmere sweater in the fall, opt for Jenni Kayne’s Everyday Slim Crewneck Sweater. The perfect weight and layering-friendly feel, I guarantee this sweater will be the foundation for all your cozy fall outfits. This is a sweater that will last for many years.
COS cropped wool cardigan
The gray cardigan is arguably one of the most important pieces in your fall wardrobe. It’s versatile and can be worn open or closed while being comfortable and chic at the same time. I’m currently loving this cropped wool cardigan from COS because it sits right on the waistband of my jeans and keeps me at the perfect temperature. If you don’t like gray, this set is also available in black.
Aritzia casual trousers
Once just an office staple, black pants are now one of my favorite pieces to revisit as fall arrives. I love that they can be paired with heels and a shirt, or a puffer with a T-shirt and sneakers, and the Aritzia Effortless Pant truly makes both of those things effortless. Available in a variety of lengths and colors, there’s a perfect match for all of us.
Clare V corduroy baseball cap
Another staple fall fabric, corduroy is ready to make a comeback in your wardrobe. From pants to jackets, corduroy is super warm and comfortable, but I’m currently eyeing this unique Clare V baseball cap to add a seasonal flair to even the most basic of outfits. The color and fit are both definite “oui” for me.
Heaven Mayhem ribbed gold earrings
Every turtleneck needs a statement earring to match, and Heaven Mayhem is the place to go. In a season when necklaces and bracelets are often hidden away, now is a great time to invest in earrings. This retro-inspired gold ribbed pair will complement every outfit you create this fall and will win you accolades wherever you go.
