This isn’t exactly the case:
Kody Brown is a terrible person.
As you may have heard and seen, TLC released the first trailer for Season 19 of Sister Wives this week.
The clip sees Robyn Brown bemoaning her status as Kody’s remaining wife… Christine with new husband David Woolley… and Janelle officially Breaking up with her spiritual spouse.
But we need to highlight the dynamic between Kody and Meri, who were legally married from 1994 to 2014.
“It’s not the divorce that sucks,” Cody tells Meri in a promotional video. “This is marrying the wrong person.”
oops,Um? Ouch.
Kody broke up with Meri a few years ago in order to exchange vows with Robin and officially adopt her child from a previous relationship.
The former made it clear almost from then on that he no longer considered Meri a romantic partner, but the two remained a couple until January 2023 when they called time on their romance.
Back to the 19th season trailer of “Honey and Concubines”:
We see Meri accuse her ex of pranks, telling the audience via confessional: “What sucks is marrying the wrong person and not having the decency to tell her until 32 years later.”
From Merry’s perspective, that’s fair enough.
But by the time they broke up, the two hadn’t slept together in ten years. Cody didn’t lead Meri on the field too much At least.
In his own Season 19 confessional, Kody bluntly said of Meri: “I hope I never marry her.”
He then told Meri: “Listen, it’s been chaos from day one.”
But this time, Meri seemed to have a new backbone to fight back against the 18-year-old father:
“That’s bullshit. It’s so unfair to me. I wish you had told me years ago, Cody.
True to form, Cody responded to his ex in ultimate A-hole fashion, screaming on the air:
“If I don’t love you, blame yourself, okay? What did I do to deserve this? What did I do wrong?
Sister Wives returns Sunday, September 15th at 10/9c on TLC.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Meri recently decided to leave Kody, and she took it a step further by calling on their former church to officially “release” her (their version of a divorce). Jenelle doesn’t need a divorce, just moving on, which for her means leaving Flagstaff.
Kristen found her soulmate David. Within a year, they first dated, moved in together, and were married in a beautiful ceremony in Moab, Utah, surrounded by family and friends.
Although three of Kody’s wives have moved on, his fourth wife, Robin, is still legally married to him.
Now that the Browns have left polygamy behind, Robin and Cody face the challenges of being a monogamous couple together and adapting to a lifestyle they never planned for.
