Is Joy-Anna Duggar an insecure parent?
That’s what the former reality star’s Instagram followers claimed this week.
Joy’s parenting has been criticized several times in the past. But the backlash to her latest post may be the strongest yet.
Joy-Anna Duggar Critics Call She an Insecure Parent
The trouble started when Joy posted what she probably thought was a pretty innocuous video on her Instagram page.
In the film, she is seen enjoying nature on a four-wheeler with her young son Gunal.
Once, the boy met his first horse and screamed with joy.
“My 14-month-old’s reaction to seeing horses,” Joy wrote in the video.
but as procession Initial reports said some fans were unhappy with seeing a 1-year-old riding an ATV without a helmet.
More worryingly, Joey’s 4-year-old daughter Evelyn was visibly disturbed by the sight of the horses.
“So unsafe, a kid has freaked out and could make the four wheeler go out of control. Think of mom,” one commenter wrote.
“Oh my God, don’t put your kids on an ATV,” another added.
“Oh my gosh, this is scary and dangerous,” a third chimed in.
“Having a little boy stand in front of a horse with his back turned is an accident and there is no guarantee of safety. [sic] For the other two children,” they pointed out.
Joey slammed for reaction to daughter’s outburst
Joey decided to laugh off her daughter’s reaction, which shocked some fans:
One fan wrote: “Evie is crying and she might scare the horses again to avoid an accident.”
“If you take children to see horses, make sure they are behind a fence for your own safety, the animals may look cute but everything can go wrong at every move.”
We’ve witnessed a lot of questionable parenting in the Duggar family, and Joey could certainly be more careful in that regard.
But the reaction to the video she posted seems to have been a bit much.
Luckily, Joey also has plenty of defenders.
“Great job Mom! I see you letting your kids be kids…to explore and experience life! You’re doing a great job! Too many people think kids are too fragile to experience life…let them be kids! Great job!
“All these people telling you how to parent are crazy. I’m so glad you’re living your best life, Joey.
“Many people commented [have] “Never been to a farm or lived on a farm,” while another wrote, “Some of you have never drank from a hose and it really shows.
Earlier this week, Joy announced that she was moving and would no longer be posting on her YouTube channel.
The uproar caused by her latest Instagram photo may have convinced Joy that she made the right decision to step away from the spotlight.
