ABC made history this week. twice.
First, the network surprised viewers by announcing the identity of the next season’s lead character earlier than usual.
Secondly, it does this by revealing that he is Grant Ellis, the second African American to hold this title.
“We announced Grant so quickly so people could still apply for his season,” producer Robert Mills tweeted after the news went viral. “If you think Grant might be the man of your dreams, or you know someone who is applying, please apply ASAP!!!”

However, if women want to compete for Ellis’ heart, they need to know what he’s looking for in a potential mate after the 30-year-old day trader was eliminated by Jenn Tran on “The Bachelorette.” Bar?

“I’m looking for a kind and understanding love. Some of the qualities I look for in a potential partner are someone who is adventurous, affectionate and loving,” Ellis told “Good Morning America.”

A press release from ABC Entertainment said Ellis is “eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure and genuine connection.”
It added, “He wishes to find a partner with whom he shares the values of loyalty, good humor and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.”
On The Bachelorette , Ellis admitted that he was in love with Tran.
A week before his hometown date, he was dropped off.
“I poured everything out, but it wasn’t good enough,” he tells the camera. “It sucks to know that you feel a certain way about someone and they don’t feel the same way about you.”
It’s true, absolutely.
But when The Bachelor premieres in early 2025, Ellis will be in control of her own romantic journey.
In a July interview with Joe Amabile and Serena Peet on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Ellis said that his favorite thing about Tran is “her ability to lighten things up, how she lights up The whole room, how witty she was”.
