Her latest interview claims that the LGBTQ+ community has faced more hostility towards her than any other group in recent months. But her comments are likely to intensify the criticism she has received.

Who is Josh Settle?
In 2015, nine years before announcing he was transgender, Josh Seiter appeared on a season of Kaitlyn Bristowe’s show bachelorette. It had been an ill-fated season, but it could have been much worse had Bristol not sent Sette home immediately.

Josh Seiter comes out as transgender
In May 2024, Josh Seiter announced to the world that she was transgender on Instagram. She adopted she/her pronouns and began appearing on social media (mostly TikTok) wearing makeup and various outfits.
Given her history of erratic behavior and the alleged “clues” in the film, some on social media immediately accused her of lying. Some wondered whether she was mocking the transgender community.
Others suspect she hopes to gain attention by any means necessary, even the spotlight of hate groups and hateful accounts. Josh Setter says the backlash has been devastating.

“I’ve received death threats, people told me they were going to hang me, they couldn’t wait to see me so they could kill me,” she reported. “This is all my information [direct message inbox]”.
It’s not uncommon for transgender people to experience bigoted backlash from former loved ones and strangers. In this case, however, Seiter said anti-trans bigots are not the only source of hurtful messaging, or perhaps even the primary source.
“Ironically, I actually found that the far left and the LGBTQ community were the meanest and meanest to me throughout all of this,” Josh Seiter claimed.
“So this is a very difficult question for me,” she lamented. “Because I didn’t get the acceptance, the tolerance, the open arms that the left preaches.”
The remark added to the suspicion of those who wondered whether she was concocting yet another alleged hoax. Even without the hoax theory, it’s an odd choice to bring up a political angle. Is Josh Seiter aiming to become the next Caitlyn Jenner – serving as a voice denouncing LGBTQ+ voices?
Let’s be honest, some of Josh Settle’s critics are a little too much. Ignoring Seth’s personal history for a moment, women—whether trans or cisgender—can dress and style themselves however they want.
There are concerns that Sett is trolling or (again) bribing in a way that could harm the trans community. But obviously, everyone should make sure that criticism of Seth is not itself transphobic.
None of us can control what Josh Settle does. However, adopting her newer pronouns was the easy thing and the only decent response. There is no litmus test for pronouns.
