We have the latest news about a recent terrorist plot to murder multiple people at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna, Austria.
They are terrible AF.
As previously reported, Swift was forced to cancel three shows on this leg of her Eras tour after ISIS plans to wreak havoc and take lives at the event were thwarted almost at the last minute.
Taylor Swift: Still no statement on Vienna conspiracy, even after new arrests
On August 8, Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, director of the Austrian National Security and Intelligence Service, said at a press conference that a 19-year-old suspect detained by the authorities earlier this week Admitted intending to “carry out an attack on the Swift Bar” concert “using explosives and knives”.
Bomb-making materials were also found in the man’s home.
Haijawi-Pirchner told reporters on Thursday that the suspect was “clearly leaning toward the Islamic State” and allegedly intended to kill himself and “as many people as possible.”
Swift, who was scheduled to perform in Vienna on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, was understandably traumatized by the news.
Meanwhile, Austria’s interior minister said on Friday that three teenagers – aged 19, 18 and 17 – had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Khanna said the 18-year-old “comes from the social environment” of the main suspect, both of whom are accused of pledging allegiance to the Islamic State.
“He had contacts with the main perpetrator but was not directly related to the attack plan,” the Austrian minister said.
“But, as was discovered a few days ago, he specifically pledged allegiance to ISIS on August 6.”
How Vienna Swift was saved and Travis Kelce learned the news
Khanna went on to say that a foreign intelligence agency notified officials of the plan, according to CNN.
A source previously told the media that US agencies alerted the government in Vienna.
“The situation is serious, the situation is serious. But we can also say: a tragedy was averted,” Khanna told a news conference.
People familiar with the matter said Travis Kelce was on the phone with his girlfriend soon after he learned of the near incident and was desperate to fly out to spend time with her.
However, Swift persuaded Kelce not to make the trip.
“I understand very well that people who want to experience the concert live are very upset,” Austrian Chancellor Karl Neheimer said this week.
“Fathers and mothers are taking care of their daughters and sons, and they are full of enthusiasm and anticipation for this concert.
“But equally important, in dire times like these, safety is unavoidable.”
Swift’s next set of Eras Tour shows are still scheduled to take place in London from August 15th to August 20th.
