Tim Blake NelsonFilming the movie legend Martin Scorsese Mission… says he respects the famed director — but that doesn’t mean he thinks he’s right about Marvel.
The actor, who had a small role in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, was interviewed type Scorsese couldn’t stand it when it came to the groundbreaking cinematic universe… saying he believed it was cinema.
Nelson said he believes Marvel movies have reached that threshold because they take audiences back to their youth… allowing them to lose themselves in the movies.
TBN admits they’re not on the same level as Goodfellas – a bit of a nod to Marty – but, that doesn’t mean they’re not great movies, especially since they’re meant to entertain anyway.
By the way, the reason Tim is talking about the MCU is… he’s finally officially joining the MCU in next year’s movie Captain America: Brave New World.
His Hulk movie was originally supposed to be the second Marvel Cinematic Universe film after Iron Man – however, it was later scrapped. Edward Norton‘s Bruce Banner was recast Mark Ruffalo.
Nelson said he feared he would never find closure for his character, Samuel Stern… and admitted he felt emotional after completing the journey nearly two decades later.
