SEOUL, South Korea (CelebrityAccess) — Yoshihide Suga, a member of the Korean pop music group BTS, was arrested for driving an electric car while drunk.
Yoshihide Suga, whose real name is Min Yoongi, was arrested on Tuesday night while driving an “electric skateboard” after he allegedly fell while trying to stop, the Associated Press reported.
A police officer noticed the leak and administered a breathalyzer test, but Suga reportedly failed the test. The Associated Press quoted a statement from Big Hit Records saying that his license was revoked and he was fined.
There appears to be some confusion about the nature of the vehicle Suga was allegedly driving. While e-skates usually refer to electric vehicles without seats, police told local media that Suga’s vehicle has seats and resembles a scooter, which could change the nature of penalties for traffic violations.
It is unclear whether police have begun investigative proceedings.
Yoshihide Suga later apologized for the incident on Hybe’s Weverse fan platform, saying he drove the vehicle after drinking alcohol after dinner.
