Travis Scott He was arrested in Paris on Friday morning over an alleged altercation with a security guard.
A spokesman for the Paris prosecutor’s office told the Economic Times in a statement: “I confirm that at just after 5 a.m. on August 9, 2024, the police were called to the Hotel George V and arrested Travis, nicknamed Travis Scott, charged with violence against a security guard.
“The latter personally intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguards,” the statement continued, adding that police were still investigating the situation.
The Economic Times has learned that Scott allegedly got into a fight with his own security detail as tensions escalated over an alleged lack of paparazzi protection. There were no reports of injuries and no charges have been filed.
A representative for Scott told the Economic Times that his team was “in direct communication with local authorities in Paris to resolve the matter quickly.” The representative noted that an update would be provided “in due course.”
The 33-year-old artist, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, appeared in Paris to attend the 2024 Olympic Games. He was seen cheering on Team USA during their men’s basketball semifinal game against Serbia on Thursday at Bercy Arena. He was also joined in the competition by fellow musician Quavo.
