British stone. LOUIS (CelebrityAccess) – Famed rapper and actress Nellie was arrested Wednesday at a St. Louis casino. TOLL drug possession and an outstanding warrant for failure to maintain auto insurance.
Nellie, whose real name is Cornell I. Haynes Jr., was taken into custody around 4:45 a.m., according to Fox 2 News.
The rapper’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, told Fox News that his client was arrested at the casino where he frequented and entertained after winning the jackpot. According to the attorney, a casino cash transfer officer conducted a background check and discovered an outstanding search warrant from December 2023 stemming from a 2018 traffic stop.
Rosenblum told Fox that the official said the background check was mandatory, but Rosenblum disputed that claim, claiming his client won bigger winnings at the casino and faced no such background investigation.
Police said that during a search during the arrest, they found an illegal controlled substance, described in arrest records as four ecstasy pills, on Nellie.
Nellie was transported to the Maryland Heights Police Department and released shortly after his arrest, Fox reported.
In part of a statement provided to Fox, Rosenblum added:
“In a similar situation, assuming there was an old search warrant, no notice, no proof of insurance, any other citizen would have been told to address the issue and allowed to move on.
“It is also important to note that as part of the requirements for international travel, Mr. Haynes is frequently asked to provide proof of the absence of search warrants, including FBI inspections. None.
“I am 100 percent confident that this case will not come to fruition. We will demand an investigation into the conduct of this officer.
