PITTSBURGH, Pa. (CelebrityAccess) — Rock and blues legend Melissa Etheridge has been announced as the headliner of Gibson Gives’ Women in Rock benefit concert.
The show, scheduled for August 28 at Pittsburgh’s Stage AE, will feature a 100% female-fronted musical lineup as part of WWR’s mission to support women in music.
In addition to Etheridge, there will also be a performance by DJ Femi, winner of this year’s WWR Rising Star contest, and a special performance moment honoring rock survivors hosted by UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital.
iHeart Radio 102.5 WDVE rock radio personality Michele Michaels will be honored live with the 2024 WWR Impact Award on a show hosted by actor and singer-songwriter Margot Bingham.
All proceeds from the concert will support women’s health research at the Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI), the nation’s first and largest research institution dedicated exclusively to life-saving women’s health research and reproductive biology.
“The purpose of the Women Who Rock benefit concert is to raise funds for life-saving women’s health research that is underfunded and under-researched,” said Melissa Etheridge. “Having experienced my own health issues 20 years ago and still being cancer-free, I know how important it is to have dedicated, independent research into women’s health.”
Fans unable to attend the Aug. 28 concert in Pittsburgh can attend charity auction A Gibson 1968 Les Paul Custom ebony guitar, autographed by Melissa Etheridge of CharityBuzz.com. All proceeds from the Les Paul Custom guitar auction will support the important work of the Magee-Womens Institute and Foundation.
