In just a few days, breakdancing will make its debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The culmination of years of advocacy, planning and training, 16 hip-hop boys and 16 hip-hop girls will compete in combat style in front of a sold-out stadium crowd.
Dancers and dance lovers around the world are eager to cheer for Breakers. But when and where can those of us not lucky enough to go to Paris watch them compete for gold?
when it happens
The Olympic Games include two events: one for men and one for women.
The women’s team will compete first. August 9the initial battle starts from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET The finals were held later on the same day, 2 to 4 p.m. ET.
The next day, the men will follow the same schedule, August 10the qualifier comes from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET and the final from 2 to 4 p.m. ET.
where it happened
The major event will be held in the Urbain Park on Place de la Concorde in the heart of Paris. The open-air stadium is also the venue for the Olympic skateboarding, BMX freestyle and 3×3 basketball competitions.

What to pay attention to
Dancers will first compete one-on-one in a round-robin format. The top eight teams will advance to the “knockout” stage, the knockout stage. The winners of the knockout rounds will advance from the quarter-finals to the semi-finals to the final, with the winner being awarded an Olympic gold medal. Judges will score dancers based on five criteria: performance, technique, originality, musicality and vocabulary. Learn more about competition structure and scoring here.
