Akili McDowell has been arrested. On August 3, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office announced Facebook the 21 year old Billions The actor was arrested on murder charges in the shooting death of 20-year-old Cesar Peralta.
On July 20, deputies responded to an incident in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Houston, Texas. Peralta suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. At that time, the Sheriff’s Office said the suspect fled the scene.
ET confirmed that McDowell was arrested on August 1 and was being held in the Harris County Jail.
He faces burglary and murder charges. McDowell is due in court on August 6 for the former charge and on October 9 for the latter charge. McDowell is being held on more than $400,000 bond. The actor has yet to speak publicly about his arrest or the charges he faces.

McDowell’s big break came in 2019 when he landed the eponymous role on OWN’s David created man. Throughout his career, McDowell appeared in astronaut wives club Starring Zavier Gibbs and Billions Starring Savion Williams.
His most recent role was in the film water boy. The film stars La La Anthony and Rockmond Dunbar and was released earlier this year.
