Josh Hartnett His latest serial killer character took some inspiration from his real life…he said his psychopaths were based on other people he met in the film industry!
The actor sat down for an interview entertainment weekly Friday…he talks about getting inside the mind of a serial killer, like he does in new movie “The Trap” M. Knight Shyamalan.
Harnett explains that there are many people at the top—executives, politicians and even people in the entertainment industry—who will say or do anything to get what they want…no matter who they hurt by doing so.
JH says a lack of empathy is a telltale sign of a psychopath…and, he’s met a lot of them – which means he’s interacted with some seriously messed up people in the film industry.
This echoes other recent comments Josh has made… admitting that part of the reason he gave up film was because he was worried that fame would crush him.
Remember…Harnett talks publicly about being tracked In a recent interview – the experiences left him worried that Helwood would take his own life, so he left early.
BTW…Harnett dug deep into his “trap” performance – however, critics weren’t too impressed with the finished product. The film holds a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, although many blame the writing and directing rather than Josh’s performance.
Bottom line…Harnett’s research paid off — and, actors may want to watch their backs in Hollywood!
