Covering the Olympics is not without its challenges. In an interview with the Economic Times, Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie Revealed that being away from loved ones was the hardest time they spent in Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“It’s so fun. It’s so beautiful. It’s so exciting and, of course, you want your kids to be here. You want your spouse to be here,” Guthrie shared of Vail, 9, and 7-year-old ’s Charlie, and her husband Mike Feldman said. “But honestly, we’re working on it. We’d love to take our kids to the Olympics when they get a little older and … have a little more independence … We miss them.”
Kotb, the mother of 7-year-old Hailey and 4-year-old Hope, agreed, but noted that she learned a valuable lesson during her time away.
“It also tells us that when we’re away for a few days, the kids are fine. They’re very fine,” she said. “We communicate with the kids over FaceTime all the time. Sometimes we feel like we have to be there all the time, [then] We realize they’re growing, they’re thriving, they’re excited. We can’t wait to get home and see them.

“We were just a puddle on the floor. That wasn’t rain. That was our tears. It was so beautiful,” Guthrie said, with Kotb adding, “When we heard the first note, we Like, ‘This is actually happening. We’re in the pouring rain… and it’s so beautiful.

Oh, that’s Anna Wintour’… There’s a million people here. It’s kind of cool. What I also love about celebrities is they understand that it actually has nothing to do with them, they know it, they are fans…just like us.

“He was just wonderful, warm and genuine,” Guthrie said. “He’s not doing it for himself. It’s all for the athletes.”
“He loves his athletes and he loves the game. He really does,” Kotb agreed. “It has nothing to do with Snoop not being there. When he dances with the gymnastics girls, he lets them loosen up. You can really feel it. He’s doing that.”
Kotb continued, “It’s not like, ‘Look at me! I’m Snoopy. I’m in the stands.'” He always cared about other people, or he cared about his parents, and I never would in a million years Think of this. [that] He is the perfect commentator for the Olympics.
