Carrie Underwood is returning to “American Idol.”
The search for Katy Perry’s successor is over, with the winner of season 4 of the beloved reality TV show reportedly confirmed as the next member of the jury.
With so many big names stepping in to replace Katie, there’s a nice symmetry to Carrie playing the role.
But what about the rest of the panel?
Carrie Underwood replaces Katy Perry on ‘American Idol’
according to deadlineThe first person to report the news expects Carrie to take part in a Season 25 panel alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
There were fears ABC would sack Luke and Lionel and start over with an entirely new panel of judges after Katie unexpectedly quit the show last season.
However, so far, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
However, this is not quite done yet. According to TMZ sources, Carrie and her team are in the final stages of signing her to a contract.
In other words, determine her salary and the length of their contract with her.
However, we could find out whether the deal is done as early as Friday, August 2; Carrie will perform on ABC’s Good Morning America.
Again, love the symmetry; this is a great place to make an official announcement!
Other options
For months, debate has raged on social media over who should replace Katy Perry on “American Idol.”
There are so many names, it’s honestly hard to keep track!
Luke Bryan once hinted that an all-male panel might be in the works, with Justin Bieber set to join the show. There’s also talk of a Jelly Roll to complete the trio.
Names like Miley Cyrus, Pink, Meghan Trainor and even Taylor Swift have been thrown around.
But what many people are really hoping for is Adele. Since she’s wrapping up her Las Vegas residency in the fall, the timing is perfect.
Plus, it would give her plenty of time to work on new music if she wanted to, putting her in the spotlight.
Then again, this is supposedly why Katy Perry left the show, so who knows!
