bachelor Alumna Hailey Merkt, attended Nick Viall’s Heart during the 2017 season 21 of the ABC reality dating competition series, already dead. She is 31 years old.
Merkt’s death was announced in a statement posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, including a slideshow of snaps celebrating her life.
“Our hearts are broken when our beloved Hailey passes away after a courageous fight for her life,” the statement read. “Hailey faced this moment with unimaginable strength, grace, and selflessness. Journey. Her determination, courage, and will to survive exceeded every timetable the doctors gave her, and she chose to spend her final moments surrounded by her loved ones, doing the things she cherished most without regrets.
“She will always be remembered as someone who was never boring, always hysterically funny, and someone who lived completely in the moment,” the statement continued. “Hailey embraced life with unparalleled enthusiasm; her beautiful spirit Touched countless lives.”
“Hailey will be deeply missed by all who knew her,” the touching tribute expressed. “Her laughter, her love and her vibrant spirit left an undeniable mark on our hearts. While we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in the lives she touched. continue to exist in all lives.
Hailey has been sharing her battle with cancer on social media after she was diagnosed with leukemia. In April, she announced on her GoFundMe page She has been declared “leukemia-free.”
In the latest campaign event shared following the death of Merkert, who died on July 26.
“After the bone marrow transplant, she was told not to think about the cancer for nine months, but in fact, she only had six weeks to receive the horrific news that the leukemia cells had returned and spread rapidly,” the update explains. “She was so clear, independent and graceful. She decided to make the most of her last moments: with the people she loved and doing the things she loved.”
She is survived by her mother, Michelle Merkert, and her siblings, Jenny and Kyle.
