Bella Hadid is speaking out about the huge controversy surrounding the Adidas ad campaign for her Munich Olympic shoes … and she says she didn’t do her homework.
The model posted a lengthy statement on social media on Monday, reacting to last week’s backlash… saying she was unaware of the famous tragedy that occurred at the 1972 Munich Olympics when 11 Israelis Athletes were taken hostage and killed by Palestinian terrorists.
Bella explained that she was unaware of the historical connection between the ’72 Olympics and Adidas shoes, adding… “I’m shocked, upset, and I’m disappointed in the lack of sensitivity at this event.”
What’s more, Bella said she would never have participated in the ad campaign if she had known about the Munich Massacre… saying her team or Adidas should have known. She admitted…she should have done her own research, too.
Bella added… “While everyone’s intention was to do something positive and bring people together through art, a general lack of understanding on all sides undermined the process.”

Bella said she does not believe in hatred of any kind, including anti-Semitism, adding… “Palestine is not synonymous with terrorism, and this campaign inadvertently highlights an event that does not represent who we are.”
