It would be a pretty stupid move for an accused Russian spy to get drunk and brag about causing mayhem at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but French police say that’s exactly what happened before they arrested the man!
French capital police take away 40-year-old man Kirill Griaznov According to French outlet Le Monde, they emerged from his apartment after he suddenly appeared on the radar of European intelligence officials, who had been keeping tabs on him for months.
Back in May, Gryaznov was kicked off a flight from Istanbul to Paris, reportedly because he suffered complete collapse.
Police said Gryaznov then stopped at a local restaurant, where he called some of his buddies in the Federal Security Service.
He then made the terrible mistake of drunkenly talking openly to friends about the French opening ceremony that was “different” just months before the Paris Olympics, according to Le Monde.
Gryaznov also allegedly produced his identification documents identifying him as an intelligence officer and even bragged to neighbors about his plans to wreak havoc at the Olympics.
News of Gryaznov’s plot spread back to European security agencies, prompting Paris authorities to eventually raid his apartment. Police reportedly found “diplomatic material” and evidence of a “major plan” to destabilize France during the Olympics.
“Le Monde” stated that Gryaznov was accused of providing intelligence to foreign forces in order to incite hostilities in France.
Fun fact…Gryaznov trained as a chef at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and even appeared on a cooking reality show. Said to be the source of disaster.
