What are you reading, watching, and listening to these days? We’d love to give you our best podcast/movie/TV/book recommendations for the summer. Here’s what our editors and writers do…
“I recently watched two great documentary series: Dash, about the world’s fastest sprinter, most notably my hero Shakari Richardson; The sprinter’s story. Lance, a 30 for 30 piece about Lance Armstrong that will surprise you even if you’re tired of hearing about his ignominious career. his Tell it. He has no regrets. Very personal and very charming. — Jenny
“After reading Dolly Alderton’s Big Salad magazine, I became obsessed with her and have made it one of my goals for 2024 to read all of her books. I’ve just started writing her memoir Everything I Know About Love is funny, addictive, and vivid. It perfectly captures all the chaos that comes with dating, trying to maintain friendships, and starting a career in your early 20s. Exhilarating and heartbreaking. Each chapter is filled with British slang and cheeky mischief that feels like a welcome treat after a long day at work and parenting.
“The Staves” by Sequoia Ziff
“My cousins introduced me to a lot of new music when we were in the UK; three songs I particularly liked were In the Long Run by The Staves, Hey Daydreamer by Neil Halstead and It’s a Beautiful Thing by The Loose Salute . It’s always a treat to add new bands to the lengthy Spotify playlists I play at home with the boys.
“My husband and I are also watching “Presumed Innocent” along with the rest of the world. Super suspenseful (and clever in that David E. Kelly way) murder mystery – Jake Gyllenhaal is awesome in it. This I read this book when it first came out, and I saw the Harrison Ford movie decades ago, but I totally forgot who did it — Jenny!
