NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Madison Square Garden Entertainment has announced plans to commemorate Billy Joel’s record-breaking 150th game with a series of events, including custom merchandise pop-ups and exhibitions The residency’s final performance was held in the Gardens in August.
Joel is scheduled to conclude his residency at MSG on July 25, bringing to a close a relationship that began nearly 50 years ago when he first took the stage on the iconic New York stage.
The residency was announced in 2013 when Joel was named the Garden’s first music franchise alongside the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, but officially launched in January 2014. Er performs at the stadium once a month.
During his tenure, he set several records, including his own record for most consecutive performances by any artist in 2015 and “most lifetime performances by any artist.”
As part of the final show, fans in attendance will have the opportunity to receive a variety of customized products, including: an “Italian Restaurant Scene” themed offer, which will feature a customized menu of Italian specialties such as Chicken Vodka Hero and Cream Sweet cannoli.
In addition, the sixth floor of the hall will host the “Defining Moments” exhibit, showcasing memorabilia from the arena’s history, including Joel’s residency, as well as other highlights such as the “Fight of the Century” between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, New York The Knicks win their first championship, and “12-12-12: Sandy Relief Concert.”
The Garden will also host Billy Joel 150, a pop-up retail store in Chase Square selling a variety of custom merchandise, including embroidered varsity jackets, T-shirts, posters, screen prints, hats, tote bags and mugs. No tickets are required to enter the merchandise pop-up shop at Chase Plaza.
