Saturday, July 20, Go the extra mile with Derricos The star revealed that his nephew Amani passed away after a long battle with autoimmune hepatitis.
“To my family, friends and fans…it is with great sadness that #DEONDERRICO announces the passing of my beloved nephew, Amani Buckley! Our family is devastated,” the reality star posted on Instagram wrote.
He reminded longtime viewers of the show that Amani is the son of his “late brothers, Christopher S. Turner and Stacey Dickey.” Go the extra mile with Derricos, the family first met Armani after DNA tests confirmed he was related to Deon and his mother GG. Throughout the season, the family’s close bonds and relationships continue to grow and flourish.
“You and my family fell in love with him and in this short time, we bonded with Armani and fused our families forever!”
The post included a photo of Deon holding Armani’s hand, seemingly sharing the news that he was with his nephew in his final moments.
In the caption, he added information about donations in lieu of flowers to the “Deon Derrico and Marian Derrico Foundation,” with proceeds going to the families of liver transplant and cancer patients.
Deon’s ex Karen pays tribute to her
Even though the two are in the midst of a divorce, Karen Derrico paid tribute to her on social media.
In fact, she has been asking for donations in Armani’s memory on a GoFundMe page since June.
According to the crowdfunding website, Armani has been battling an autoimmune disease since he was 14 years old. As a result, he required multiple liver transplants. Armani received a liver transplant on June 2, and his family said the surgery was a success. Unfortunately, his body rejected the organ and he received his third and final transplant on June 15.
After Armani’s death, Karen Derrico posted a video on Instagram filled with photos of Amani and Deon spending time with their 14 children.
