Captain Paul Watson – an environmental activist and star of the show “Whale Wars” – was arrested in Greenland… The shocking moment was captured in a video posted on his FoundationX account.
His foundation – the Captain Paul Watson Foundation – released a video explaining when they landed at Nuuk, Greenland, to refuel the Japanese whaler Yasui Maru on its way to the Northwest Passage to stop it.
Captain Paul Watson was arrested this morning in Nuuk, Greenland, by Danish Federal Police who boarded the M/Y John Paul DeJoria immediately after the ship docked.

However, once the ship docked, Danish federal police boarded and arrested Watson, the foundation said.
Video released by the foundation shows police leading Watson, who has white hair and a thick beard, from the boat to a police car and driving him away.
The Associated Press quoted a police statement confirming that Watson had been arrested and that the district court would rule on extradition.
In the film, a Danish police officer appears to tell staff that they arrested Paul on an international arrest warrant issued by Japan… and that the foundation was convinced that the longer he stayed in Greenland, the greater the likelihood of his extradition. To Tokyo.
For those who don’t know… Watson has been an adversary to the whaling industry for years – sabotaging and sinking ships around the world since founding Sea Shepherd in the late 1970s. He is also a founding member of Greenpeace.
His story – along with those of other prominent anti-whaling activists – is included in the “Whale Wars” series from 2008-2015, in which captains of several Sea Shepherd vessels used any means to take down whalers.
Watson’s foundation is asking for funds to free him from detention in Greenland before he is extradited to Japan.
We have contacted the Danish authorities…so far no response.
