PERTH, Australia (CelebrityAccess) – Promise Village, a new music festival scheduled to be held in Perth this year, has been abruptly canceled just days after tickets went on sale for the inaugural event.
The festival takes place at Perth’s Langley Park on October 12, with a hip-hop-focused line-up including J Hus, Rema, Jorja Smith, Headie One and Uncle Waffles.
Organizers did not provide details about the cancellation of the festival in an official statement, saying the event was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.
A statement shared on ticketing platform Megatix stated: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Promise Village on October 12, 2024 will no longer take place.”
Festival co-founder and Perth native Emal Naim provided more information about the decision to cancel the event to local news outlet The West Australian, saying the decision to cancel the festival stemmed from ticket sales. Sales volume is low.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to original expectations and without much support to sustain costs, it was no longer viable,” he said.
Naim went on to say he had no plans to revive the brand in Perth in 2025.
“We have decided not to return to Perth indefinitely, we are scared,” he said.
