Natalie Portman is revealing what she would be doing if she weren’t an actress. ET visited lady in the lake Portman stars in the premiere of her upcoming Apple TV+ series and shares her alternative career path.
“I thought I would be like Jane Goodall, living in the wild with animals,” Portman told the Economic Times of the famous zoologist.
The question comes up in light of Portman’s latest project, in which she serves as executive producer and plays Maddie, a 1960s housewife who decides to give up everything she knows and become A reporter uncovers the truth about an unsolved murder.
“She’s so deep in her own needs that it’s like she’s blind to everything around her,” Portman said of her character in an interview with The Economic Times. “It’s crazy to embody her intensity.”
Portman stars in the limited series alongside Moses Ingram, who plays Cleo Johnson, a hard-working mother on a mission to improve the lives of black people in Baltimore . The story of these two women’s different but interconnected lives is why Portman signed on to the project.
“It has two incredible female characters who are both finding freedom in this incredible world of 1960s Baltimore, and all of our designers have done a fantastic job of realizing that,” she said explain. “[Series creator] Alma Hael is someone I admire greatly. Her heart and her talent exceed any expectations I had for her.
Ingram also spoke about the show in an interview with ET, calling her co-star “a legend.”
“I felt overwhelmed at first. Every day I sit next to her and I still feel overwhelmed that someone I watched for so many years somehow ended up on the TV next to her,” she said. “It’s so surreal. I’m so grateful for that.”
