Violet Affleck Take a stand and speak as a voting member of the City of Los Angeles.
18-year-old college student-her daughter Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner — made a rare public appearance Tuesday at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
During public comment, where residents had the opportunity to address the board, Violet wore a protective mask at the public event— Advocate for expanding the scope of mask supply and other important means of maintaining public safety, while also revealing her own experience with the long-term aftereffects of contracting the viral infection.
“I contracted post-viral illness in 2019,” Violet revealed. “I’m fine now, but I’ve seen firsthand that medicine doesn’t always address the consequences of even a mild virus. The COVID-19 pandemic has made that even more apparent.”

“One in 10 infections will result in long-term COVID-19 infection, a devastating neurological and cardiovascular disease that can take away people’s ability to work, see, move and even think,” Violet shared at the board meeting. While explaining that it has hit vulnerable communities the hardest across the country.
“In response to the long-term COVID-19 crisis, I am requiring masks, air filtration, and far-UVC lighting at government facilities, including jails and detention centers, and requiring mandatory mask wearing at county health care facilities,” she said.
“We must expand access to free testing and treatment, and most importantly, the county must oppose the mask ban for any reason,” Violet declared, speaking quickly to get her message across in the allotted one minute. “They don’t make us safer, they make vulnerable members of our community less safe and keep everyone from participating in Los Angeles together. Thank you.”
Violet is the eldest of Affleck and Garner’s three children, followed by her sister Serafina, 15, and brother Samuel, 12. Violet’s famous parents split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage and divorced in 2018.
