LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — Sphere Entertainment has announced the winners of the inaugural Sphere XO Student Design Challenge, in which more than 100,000 Clark County students were invited to submit artwork that will be displayed on the LED exterior of the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Ultimately, eight students ranging from elementary school to graduate school were selected to display their Independence Day-themed artwork on the exterior of the sphere as the city of Las Vegas celebrates the Fourth of July.
The student art exhibition on the 4th marks the first time the public has had their work displayed on the surface of this already iconic venue.
“Exosphere has gained global recognition not only for its captivating visuals, but also as a next-generation public art platform,” said Jim Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment. “We are proud to have launched the XO Student Design Challenge through Congratulations to all the winners and we hope audiences around the world will be inspired by their creativity.
According to Sphere Entertainment, more than 100 finalists were selected through public voting, with four winners chosen and the remaining four chosen by a panel of judges.
Students with winning entries will receive a $10,000 scholarship from Sphere, and their school will receive a $10,000 donation to support their art program.
The winners of the Sphere XO Student Design Challenge are:

• Secondary School:
o Kathryn Honeycutt – Year 8, Anthony Saville School
o Robyn Alejandro – 8th grade, Katherine and Tim Haney Middle School
• Secondary School:
o Alexandra Ashdown – Senior, Liberty High School
o Alicia Valle – Middle School student at Legacy High School
• University:
o Linjie Ying – Graduate Student, University of Nevada, Las Vegas
o Raul Montez – Senior, University of Nevada, Las Vegas
