Piers Morgan has a lot to say about the latest scandal surrounding Prince Harry.
None of this left a very positive impression on the Duke of Sussex.
You may have heard that Prince Harry will be honored with the Pat Tillman Service Award at the ESPY Awards this summer.
The award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the world… echoing the legacy of former NFL players and U.S. Army Rangers who enlisted in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Many believe Harry is ineligible for the honor – despite having served in the British Army for 10 years, including two tours as a helicopter pilot in Afghanistan.
He also founded the “Invictus Games” in 2014, a multi-sport, Paralympic-style competition for wounded or injured service members and veterans.
Not a bad resume
But at this moment, Harry is almost everywhere and controversial.
Morgan took issue with ESPN’s decision in a column in the New York Post, where he was furious with Prince Harry, calling him a “royal traitor.”
“Pat Tillman is an American hero, a man who gave up serving his country to serve himself,” Morgan said of the man who gave up his professional football career to fight abroad.
The reporter then compared Tillman to Harry as follows, calling the latter…
“This is a man who knows so little about the meaning of the word ‘responsibility’ that he gave up his job working for the public as a member of the British royal family to live in California and become a greedy, greedy celebrity who trades on his royal title. There is nothing to earn.
Morgan ended his rant with this simple point:
“Pat Tillman will be turning in his grave over this insult to his name.”
Since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties in 2020, Morgan has lashed out at them every chance she gets.
But he’s not the only one in this situation.
Pat’s mother, Mary Tillman, recently told the Daily Mail, “I’m amazed why they would choose such a controversial and divisive person for the award,” adding a few days ago:
“Some recipients are more suitable.
“There are people in the veterans community who are making huge efforts to help veterans.”
ESPN’s response to this story:
“ESPN, with support from the Tillman Foundation, pays tribute to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and specifically the work of the Invincible Games Foundation, celebrating its 10th anniversary, through the legacy of sport. Strength promotes healing for military members and veterans around the world.
While we know not everyone will agree with all of the winner selections, the Invictus Games Foundation does an incredible job and ESPN believes this is a cause worth celebrating.
