prince harry People are outraged at ESPN’s decision to honor him, and there are some key figures standing in his corner Pat Tillman Service Award – At least two previous recipients said Harry was absolutely deserving of the award.
Jack WoodThe 2018 recipient of the award, a U.S. Marine and former college football player, told TMZ …the Duke of Sussex was a natural fit to receive the Tillman honor because of Harry’s military service and dedication to veterans.
Jack thought Prince Harry would be a good choice because of his lifelong commitment to serving and supporting the military and veterans – Harry served two tours in Afghanistan – which is commendable given the hundreds of different lives the British royal family has led Way.
Remember, Pat’s mom, Mary Tillmanwhen she Slams ESPN The award, named after her son, is planned to be given to “a controversial and divisive individual” at this month’s ESPY Awards.
Even ESPN’s personality Pat McPhee publicly supported Mary’s views, claiming that his network was deliberately trying to create controversy… allegedly to boost TV ratings.
Another previous recipient is U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Israel del Toro Jr.Winner of the Tillman Award in 2017 and completely disagree with McPhee and Mary Tillman.
He said Harry’s work with wounded veterans makes him a worthy recipient, and for what it’s worth… he looks forward to seeing Harry follow in his footsteps.
ESPN thinks so too, as it insists Harry was drafted because of his role as Founder of Invincible Game For wounded and injured veterinarians. The Harry Foundation is celebrating ten years of service.
The idea that ESPN picked Harry purely for publicity doesn’t make sense to Jack, who noted… ESPYs and ESPN don’t hurt celebrities, and award shows are always packed with famous athletes.
Harry is, of course, the first celebrity to receive the Pat Tillman Service Award – an award traditionally reserved for unsung heroes, but Jack said Harry’s military background sets him apart from most celebrities.
While Jack defends Harry here, don’t get it twisted…he says Pat’s mother has every right to defend her son’s legacy however she sees fit, and, obviously, he’s not speaking on behalf of the Tillman family.
Likewise, Israel sympathizes with Mary, but says the award comes down to service…and, at least to him, Prince Harry more than checks that box.
