Petiomar was charged with kidnapping, carjacking, interfering with the custody of a minor and illegal use of a credit card.
The charges stem from an incident last Wednesday after the woman was involved in an accident with another vehicle in Oakland Park.
As the woman exchanged messages with another driver outside the car, Petiomar suddenly jumped behind the wheel.
As Petiome sped away, the woman locked the door and was dragged onto the road until she fell to the ground.
At some point during the escape, Pettioma realized the woman’s 3-year-old daughter was in a car seat in the back and pulled over to the shoulder.
Dashcam video obtained by police shows Petiomar jumping out of the car, opening the back door, removing the baby from the car seat and placing her on the side of the road.
Petiomar then got back in the car and drove away, and the Good Samaritan ran over to help the child. The suspect eventually abandoned the car with the woman’s cat inside and used the woman’s credit card to make purchases at the store. The incidents were also captured on video.
But in the end, both the child and the cat were safe, and the woman was reunited with both. All’s well that ends well.
