New York City’s Pride parade ended on a sour note…with multiple fights breaking out, forcing police to intervene.
Washington Square Park was the center of chaos Sunday night, as onlookers gathered to watch and several attendees punched, kicked and hurled insults at each other.
In one particularly disturbing incident…a woman wearing a black bra and shorts stood in the fountain and cried at two other female guests. As the argument escalated, the bra-clad woman pushed one opponent to the ground before diverting her attention to another woman in a pink top – who later had her hair cut by another Pull roughly.
Several bystanders filmed the heated exchange… but instead of offering help, they seemed to belittle the loser of the fight.
The fight between the women eventually ends, but a fight between a group of men reignites… which sets off a chain reaction of other fights.
Bystanders captured the brawl … and several people even looked happy at some points. Police tried to control the chaos by setting up roadblocks around the park and ordering people to leave the area by nightfall.
It’s unclear if anyone was arrested…but we do know that 22 people were arrested at an anti-Israel protest earlier in the day.
ICYMI… Demonstrators temporarily halted festivities at the 54th Pride Parade in Greenwich Village. The march began after police removed some protesters. 16 people received table tickets. The rest spent the night in police custody.
A not-so-great way to end what should have been a celebratory night.
