Marilyn MonroeHis Los Angeles-area home will not be listed for sale … despite being named a historic-cultural monument, upending the current owner’s plans to demo the home.
Sources close to the homeowner tell TMZ… Breanna Milstein and Roybank There are no plans to sell the Brentwood home where the Hollywood legend died of a barbiturate overdose in August 1962.
Instead, we’re told the married couple will continue to oppose this week’s unanimous vote by the Los Angeles City Council to designate Marilyn’s former home as a culturally significant landmark — a label that protects it from demolition.
We’re told Briana and Roy feel violated by the ruling and don’t want to be forced to sell… especially as the property is an extension to the home next door to their home.
Not only that, but we’re told that the house the couple purchased last year for $8.35 million has fallen into disrepair, which is why they don’t live there.
Our sources say there are major issues with the roof that are causing leaks inside the home, but Briana and Roy have no plans to fix anything right now… as the new designation makes doing anything with the home very complicated.
Essentially, if they can’t demolish the home, the property is of no use to them — which is why they continue to file lawsuits against the historic title.
We’re told the couple is facing threats from lawsuits and will have to constantly explain to fans that their home is not a public place… and probably never will be.
The feel of the “coveted Marilyn Fan Club” is definitely different, as a spokesperson told TMZ… The club fully supports the title because Marilyn’s impact on the film industry deserves to be remembered.
Their bottom line is…protecting the home is protecting Marilyn’s legacy, so they won’t back down, but neither will the homeowners.
