Donald Trump Based on an explosive book, he said he learned that people could get away with abhorrent behavior as long as the ratings were high, as he did on The Apprentice.
The former president made the statement in an interview with Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setood “The Apprentice: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett See America Through the Looking Glass” opens Tuesday.
We’ve already given you a little bit of information about the new book… but, as a refresher, DJT gave Setoodeh multiple interviews, portraying the 45-year-old as a lonely, occasionally grumpy former TV star. Not flattering.
Regardless…Setude said Trump, looking back on “The Apprentice,” said, “It’s all about one thing: ratings. If you have ratings, you can be the meanest, most horrible person in the world.” .
It’s a pretty cynical look at Hollywood…but, it sums up The Apprentice — a movie that many watch just to see who Trump will fire each week.
Plus, Trump has made similar claims before with similar sentiments — remember, he once said that women make men “Catch ’em” As long as they are famous.
Donald’s team did not deny his comments in the book, although they said Trump had little memory of interacting with him and claimed he was a “loser” who was too focused on the Republican nominee.
Compared to other quotes in the book, Trump’s “Apprentice” comments are pretty tame… including the part where he says Taylor Swift “Exceptionally beautiful” – completely objectify her.

Like we said, the book is out now…and, we’ll have to see if its good ratings have any impact on The Donald.
