From Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour to Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour, this has been a blockbuster touring year. But what would a tour be like without dancers?
This week, “So You Think You Can Dance” dancers are asked to perform on the tour and take on the challenge of dancing on the tour. “International travel is a multi-billion dollar industry,” said longtime host Cat Deeley. “While it’s the headliners who make the headlines, any superstar will tell you it’s their dancers who keep their performances alive.”
So how did our top 5 performers fare? let’s see.
Hello everyone, we have made it to the top 5! These talented dancers are one week away from becoming America’s most popular dancers. They’ve filmed music videos, musicals, movies, and on last night’s show, they’ve also been on tour.
Dancers are also joined by two iconic choreographers: Fullout Cortland and Kyle Hanagami. These choreographers have worked with everyone from SZA to Justin Bieber — that is, they’ve worked with everyone. Dancers also had the opportunity to collaborate with another incredible artist, T-Pain!
Each dancer is asked to perform these two movements. That means two sets of choreography, two sets of rehearsals and two performances in one week. This is the big leagues, folks!
The dancers jumped right into rehearsals for Fullout’s hip-hop performance and Kyle’s modern dance moves. Fullout selected Mariyah Hawkins to join T-Pain for a special front-and-center moment, and the pressure began in earnest.
The pressure was just as intense during Kyle’s rehearsals, and Madison Rouge Alvarado seemed to be affected a bit, injuring her hip during rehearsals. But she said, “Even if it hurts, I won’t let it affect my dancing.” We love driving, but dancers are asked to take care of themselves. We promise, dancing in pain is not a bend.
Finally it’s show time. Lo and behold, T-Pain finally arrived at the “SYTYCD” studio! The dancers performed the Fullout dance with T-Pain, which definitely got a round of applause from the audience. There’s a quick time for a quick change and then it’s time for Kyle’s routine.
The judges were so impressed with both performances that they had feedback for all the dancers. Madison was praised for dancing on her injured hip (we have mixed feelings about it), and judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy told Dakayla Wilson she was definitely the The best of the show. In the end, both Madison and D’Akyla were safe, leaving Easton Mallarditi, Maria and Anthony Curley to dance for their lives and continue competing for the week.
Easton’s solo was stunning as always, and Anthony’s performance showed the judges his range. But Maria got into trouble again by dancing outside her comfort zone, and ultimately, the judges chose to send her home. “It was a great experience and I got to do what I wanted to do,” she said.
After another elimination, only four dancers remained in the competition. Who do you think will be the last person standing on stage?
