“The area sleeps alone tonight”
Deluxe Anniversary Edition
The first episode of “Song Exploder” features the song “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” by The Post Office, which was released 10 years ago in January 2014. And out comes a deluxe expanded version of our first release: this edition features new interviews, new insights and new snippets of songs and demos.
The Postal Service was established in 2001. Their debut album, released in 2003, was a game-changer. Combining electronic music with indie rock, they not only sold over a million copies; their songs could be seen on television and in movies, influencing a generation of artists. Last year they celebrated the album’s 20th anniversary with sold-out concerts across the United States, with more shows planned in 2024. Get up 2013 interview with Jimmy Tamborello. Here, the pair tell the story of how they came to write the song “Sleep Alone Tonight.”
